| Many wonder
what makes Italian recipes authentic. First,
get the recipe from an Italian. Then in my opinion,
it is in
the spices used. Then the big thing that makes
all the
difference is how fresh the spices and other ingredients
are.
Basil out of a jar from a supermarket shelf is bland
and
tasteless. No flavor. This is how a non
Italian cooks.
You can tell something is missing. If you cannot
find an
Italian store that sells fresh basil, I recommend growing
your own. Go to a nursery and get basil already
in a pot
growing. Then, after it grows, pick it and place
in a plastic
bag. Place it in your freezer to use during the
year.
